Personalized SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Course

If you are unable to attend our pre-scheduled weekend courses, would prefer the opportunity for one-on-one training or have a child looking to complete their Junior SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Course, our personalized course option would be suited to you. With personalized training we will be able to tailor make the course to suit your needs, dates and time schedule.

Why Junior Divers (Under 15yrs) Need Greater Supervision

Young divers under 15yrs require closer supervision. Their attention span, physical control, and decision-making are still developing, which means they can become distracted or overwhelmed more easily than adults.

Reduced student-to-instructor ratios are essential. A lower ratio allows the instructor to give more individual attention, monitor each diver closely, and respond quickly if needed. This creates a safer environment and helps juniors build real confidence in the water.

We keep junior courses to very small groups or 1-on-1 so every young diver receives the focused supervision they need.

SDI was the first training agency worldwide to actively recognize this and reduce student-to-instructor ratios, placing quality and safety at the forefront of diver training

Your confined water training will be completed over two main sessions which can be covered in a single day or split over two depending on your experience and time requirements. For the first session we cover the equipment components used during the course. We then proceed to the pool to commence with the watermanship assessment before moving onto scuba where there will be an emphasis on mastering buoyancy and trim before completing any skills, ensuring greater comfort in the water. The second session is dedicated to completing confined water training and refining equipment adjustments in preparation for open water diving.
